Jewish American Heritage Month 2019 honors Jewish American illustrators

May is Jewish American Heritage Month 2019, and this year is dedicated to the artistry of Jewish American illustrators who have enriched our lives and continue to fill our world with creativity and joy. From Maurice Sendak and Rube Goldberg to Roz Chast and Jack Kirby, American Jews have created some of our country’s most iconic children’s books, cartoons and graphic novels.

Originally proposed by the Jewish Museum of Florida and South Florida Jewish Community leaders, Jewish American Heritage Month was officially established by President George W. Bush in 2006.

All VITAS® Healthcare staff and volunteers are trained in Jewish beliefs and customs, including ethics regarding end-of-life care. Our culturally sensitive programs ensure that patients within the Jewish community will receive care that respects his or her faith, culture and traditions.

VITAS is accredited by the National Institute for Jewish Hospice, indicating our dedication to Jewish culture and traditions.
