VITAS Celebrates June as LGBTQ Pride Month

VITAS celebrates Pride Month during June, a time to observe the contributions of individuals who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transsexual or questioning/queer. “Celebrate the Freedom To Be Who You Are” is the theme of the 2018 VITAS campaign.

Throughout its 40-year history, VITAS has embraced the value of diversity in our hiring practices, care strategies and the training of employees as they care for patients whose lifestyles, cultures, languages and spiritual beliefs span the (rainbow) spectrum of human experience.

Pride Month also serves as an opportunity to reflect on high-profile and everyday LGBTQ individuals—actors and politicians, athletes and business executives, hospice employees and hospice patients—who enrich our lives by being true to themselves and setting examples for others.
